The company put £100 million into a project to create really good hydrogen engines, and a team of 100 engineers is working on it. They showed off a cool backhoe loader on The Mall, and they also introduced another machine powered by hydrogen, a Loadall telescopic handler, which is used in construction and on farms globally.

On Monday, Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in India, introduced Asia’s inaugural construction machine run by hydrogen, courtesy of JCB. The JCB Backhoe Loader, displayed in New Delhi, operates on a hydrogen combustion engine. This initiative is part of JCB’s £100 million investment to minimize carbon emissions in the construction sector.

To facilitate the use of hydrogen-powered equipment, JCB has created a mobile hydrogen refuelling unit. This unit makes it convenient to transport hydrogen directly to construction sites.

India marked a significant milestone in eco-friendly technology with the unveiling of Asia’s first hydrogen-powered engine by JCB. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, introduced the ground breaking innovation on Monday.
